The GYLP product development team is responsible for the design and development of battery systems, battery modules, battery management and protection electronics, battery chargers, and cell balancing systems for aerospace, defense, and high reliability industrial applications.
Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations:
Develop, integrate, and document battery management unit (BMU) and charger electrical/electronic system requirements to establish system design. Develop, maintain, and modify BMU/charger system and component designs using computer-aided design tools and/or other design methods to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and customers throughout the product lifecycle. Validate designs through testing and analysis to verify compliance with requirements and specifications. Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Perform work with minimal direction. Mentor and direct activities of less experienced engineers.
Competencies:
Technical competencies should include the following:
- A thorough working knowledge of analog and power electronics, including switch-mode power supplies, and relevant design criteria, analysis methods, and test processes for the same
- Familiarity with microcontroller-based systems
- Ability to apply a comprehensive understanding of computer aided design tools, including schematic entry and circuit/system simulation tools; basic ability to manipulate PCB layout tools
- Demonstrated understanding of processes required for requirements definition, allocation, implementation, verification, and tracking to ensure product design integrity
General competencies should include the following:
- Project management
- Communication and collaboration in a team environment
Education and/or Experience:
- BSEE/BSCompE or MSEE from an accredited course of study
- 5 – 15 years of experience in analog/power electronics product development from conceptual design through field support
- Li-ion battery experience highly desirable
